Healing the hearts of children in the heart of Texas.
The mission of Cherokee Home for Children is to engage children in education, community, and church-related activities to positively influence their lives. Preparing the children for the time where they leave Cherokee takes wholesome and dedicated people.

Cherokee Home for Children is under the oversight of the Eldership and Board of Directors of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ located in Brownwood, Texas.

The Sojourners spent a wonderful two weeks at Cherokee Home to help us out on several projects.  While they were here, they upgraded the appearance of our boys' rooms in Cottage 1 by painting the bedrooms to lighten them up.  Below is a before and after picture of the work they did.

While the men were working in Cottage 1, their wives were helping out in several different areas on campus.  They helped in the office with a mail out, helped in the library with cataloging and shelving books, and also helped the cottages by preparing 7901 cookies ready to be baked, 6 loaves of banana bread, 24 pizza crusts, and 84 breakfast muffins.

We truly appreciate these dear friends of Cherokee Home and servants of Christ!

Cherokee Day 2013 is now behind us, and we were blessed with another wonderful day spent with friends of Cherokee Home for Children.  Thank you to those of you who were able to join us, those who sent money and groceries, and those who continue to pray for us as we take care of children.

Cherokee Day was also the day that we introduced an exciting new development that Cherokee Home is undertaking.  We will soon begin construction on a new 12,000 square foot cottage that will take the place of three of our older cottages.  There are two very important reasons that this has become necessary.  First, this new cottage will go farther in increasing feelings of stability in our children.  Second, it has become necessary to replace some of our cottages that are 50 years old.  These cottages have served us very well and are now showing their ages due to the wear and tear of taking care of many teenage children.  Please contact us to find out more information about this exciting and beneficial project.
